Sorry if this is a silly question, but how far can a 998 be bored out to? does making it bigger give you "more" i.e is it worth the effort?

If you've got one in need of a rebuild, then yes.. you can go I think to 120 thou oversize with GR's flat top pistons, but you'd need to do some head work as well to balance the CR.

At +.120" with a 998 crank you're looking at 1095cc capacity. I reckon it'd go pretty well ;)

Why do you need more than 998? You can do the speed limit.

Your just a power crazed hooligan

bike pistons can go bigger i believe, but then you gotta worry bout wall thickness and stength of the block. correct me if i'm wrong

 Not a power crazed hooligan, just need to be able to keep up with hubby's 1310!!. No really, you are right, however a little bit more never hurt anyone.

just put an 1100 crank in it, thats 100cc right there.

Then whatever you re bore it to is extra on top of that. 0.20, 0.40, 0.60 pistons are easy to get.

I would go bigger but its more work.

Once you've made your decision....
Trim the motor with a supercharger. You can wave to the husband in the rear view mirror!

Cheers,
Mark.

You could do a few decent tricks (not adding a turbo/supercharger) to get 90hp at the fly... That could be as much as double the power of your husband's 1310?!

How fast do you want to go.
Do you want to sacrifice reliability/longevity?
& the big one... how much do you want to spend?!
