I looked at it when I has looking to supercharge my car. The kit looked neat but it was too expensive. I went for Bens kit in the end. As for supercharging my Sc12 kit is on an engine built in 1970. I have been running it for a couple of years but as a fun car, for club runs and shows etc. (about 5000miles). I put a cooper head on to drop the CR and the rest is bolt-on If you do it you wont ever turn back. my 998 was gutless before now it has some fun poke. about 60ATW /90at the fly Build thread here if you want a read. http://www.miniaddicts.co.uk/forum/show ... light=sc12 |

From memory I think they are asking around $5500 for that kit. I have ordered a vmax scart kit which should arrive next week. Price was about $3800 including shipping and a new carby with current exchange rates. http://www.vmaxscart.co.uk/supercharger.html |

Stuart Gurr at Vmax has the best reputation here in the UK for Suck through kits. |

Is there much difference between the SC12 and SC14 superchargers? My mate has a SC14 sitting in his garage. |

i have thought about fitting one. i just don't want to have to do more work to the engine just to fit this. i am keeping the engine standard. A+1275 have to go 20though as im reconing it. ill research it a bit more, see what costs are involved.. with the ben92 kit. |

Bigger physically (so will not fit without some mods to sc12 kit) Gives 1.4 litres per revolution instead of 1.2L Would be suitable on a big bore, monster engine |

If you are thinking seriously about supercharging, definately talk to these guys (give Brian at Link Automotive a call) along with all your other options (such as Ben's SC12 kit, and so on). |

Just a couple of things I have found with supercharging engines[not just minis] The bigger the capacity per rev. is a better way to go. It means that you can run the blower at a slower speed and it requires a little less HP to drive it and a lower boost pressure. Try to mount the blower away from any heat source and from the blower to the engine a expansion chamber will help to drop the air temp.[blow thru system] Suck thru system then consider the air flow to make sure the air/fuel mix does not settle out. SC 14 are good but if you want a high performance out of one then modifying the seals and brgs to a oil supply from the engine[drain back to sump] also helps them. I always use a tooth belt for the drive as you do not need a tight "V" or multi rib belt to drive them. Too much side load from the belt is not good for the brgs. A toothed belt will also not slip and give some fluctuations in boost. From your posting you are only doing a mildly worked eng so a basic 12 or 14 would do the job. |

Some one just told me that doing this will greatly reduce the life of the engine. I might skip this, if things keep stuffing up I can't fix it might stay safe with a warm 1275 |

I believe it is a bigger SC but I haven't seen the 2 side by side. I have a SC14 I'm planning on fitting one day to a std engine, either 1098 or a 1275 depending if I can be bothered swapping engines. I'd suspect big psi, probably 10 or more easy so engine life may be an issue on a std engine, but I have spares ![]() |

you cant use the sc-14 with bens kit. mild cam and engine, keep the revs down, stock boost, getting it tuned properly and you'll have a reliable motor with plenty of grunt. |

Cool, wasn't sure about the physical dimensions between the two. How much does Ben's SC12 kit go for and what's included? Mounting kit or SC12 + mounting kit? |
