I plan to try to start up my 1966 mini engine after 3 years in hibernation. Any suggestions what I should do to avoid damage/wear? |

im going to find this interesting myself...as my engine has been sitting for over three years now two. Ive been turning it over every month by hand and putting oil down the cylinders as well as i was told to do so. |

Crank it over with no spark plugs in to get oil pressure, fresh fuel & it should be good to go. Doogie |

In addition to the above, once you've put the plugs back in, take off the air cleaner and splash a little fuel into the carby - or better yet, find an old clean trigger pak/refillable spray bottle and use that to spray some fuel in. It should fire up almost straight away, which should save you from having to crank the engine for a long time - as the carby will probably be bone dry and take a while to fill up (especially if it has a mechanical fuel pump). |

I recently did a floor start with an engine that had been started proir but was a bugger to restart. I cleaned up the rotor button and cap still didn't start, made sure fuel was going to the carb ![]() New set of plugs and it roared. The other thing which happened. if its a floor start or using jumper leads check the leads them selves specialy if your having troubles starting, I melted the ends three times ![]() |

if you don't get oil pressure after cranking for a minute or so with plugs out, reverse prime the oil pump. |
