Driver's side front and rear indicators not working, no power at lamps. ANY CLUES NEW INDICATOR FITTED THREE MONTHS AGO. CHEERS STUART |

Is the flasher can clicking - if so then the indicator arm is working okay and the problem is lower down the wiring. Maybe a loose or dirty earth or a connector. If the flasher can is not clicking then its may be in the indicator arm. They are plastic and inside the black plastic steering column sheath. Mike |

Green/white wire at the indicator arm is the one to check, and then the green/white 3 way junction found hidden amongst the window wiper mechanisms. Take the connection out and give it a wipe with sandpaper till it is shiny again. It won't be a ground issue as the lights affected use seperate negative bondings to the shell. |

That means the contact on your indicator arm is playing up, or the bullet connector for the green/white is a little dodgy. Take a close look at the bullet connection and if this still fails take a close look at the contact for the green/white on the indicator arm. Pay particular attention to where the green/white connects to its brass contact in the arm (EDIT: ALSO THE LIGHT GREEN WIRE). Sometimes the wire can fall off as it rocks back and forth with the movement of the arm. If so, it can often be soldered back on. If it's not visible, prove the wire or contact fault by using a short piece of wire to connect the light green wire to the green/white at the bullet connector. The drivers side indicators should begin to flash. |

You hit the nail on the head Mick, now what is the next step? Is the switch the problem or what . Helppppp P.s. did you own a cooper s red with a white roof, mark 2, that ended up in Brisbane? Stuart |

Yeah that was the one. Smelly. You will have to deduce if it is the light green wire, the contact or the green white wire that is at fault. As above, check to see if a wire has frayed away from a contact or cracked inside the insulator (bypass the wire to prove this is the case). Also inspect the indicator arm contact, check to see if they are making, use a piece of fine sandpaper to clean the contact if you can do so carefully. If the contact is shot then the arm will probably need to be replaced. |
