| Post subject: | Cone and trumpet removal issues! |
Seem to be having a few issues! Think it all stems from the rather shocking find that my cones had NO retaining bolts! So any way, inserted the cone compressor and managed to get the knuckle clear of the the suspension arm, but the knuckle is siezed SOLID! I had a hammer and grips and rust off and CRC on it but didn't budge! So then tried to get the trumpet off the cone, and still SOLID!! 
So anyone got any tricks to help?! |

beat the sh!t out of it until the trumpet smashes then fit hi-los, or remove the top suspension arm |

Get an electric jig/hacksaw and cut the bastard trumpet up. Take top arm out. Remove cone. Fit new cone + hilos + knuckle. Replace top arm. Viola! |

yeah I would go with beat the crap out of it as well. Just remember, if it can't be fixed with a hammer it must be electrical

Even that rule can be bent. SU fuel pumps respond well to a clout when they refuse to move. |

ok,,, i hate that people call the rubber part the "Cone",,, it`s really the spring or the donut the cone is really the cone shaped ally trumpet/strut thing so,,, take the top arm out ,,,, if you have to -->smash the old alloy "CONE" shaped trumpet/strut thing & fit all the new bits there,.,,, i said it ,,, i feel soooo much better now

oh yeah,,, i know that everyone "calls" them cones & always have done,,, i just hate the term cone for the spring when the ally strut is the cone "Shaped" item,,, so maybe it`s just the miss-planation of the terms that gives me the sh!ts

the rubber donut is called a cone, because of the shape of the inside bit that the rubber is bonded to - the old parts book calls it a cone and a strut (trumpet) http://www.somerfordmini.co.uk/eshop/in ... page&id=52 52.
