Hi,
i put my new clutch etc on today and got it home from school, as i was lifting it off the ute something caught my brothers eye and it was a spring hanging from the clutch and flywheel housing. (not the wok- the other one) it was caught between the gearbox and housing. i suspect it may be the retaining spring from the primary gear oil seal but im not to sure yet, so im going to pull it off.
was it a little skinny soft round spring? it'd be very odd if it is that spring, because it's meant to be on the engine side of the seal, so to come out, it'd need to get out of the seal, between the seal and the crank, and then out.... unless the seal was shredded when it was put in

also is it possible to set the valve clearences etc without the clutch assembly on? i cant see any reason as why it would effect it??
yes it is, but it'll be hard to push the car backwards and forwards without the drivers side engine mount
