After getting over the fantastic rocker gasket and getting down to the main bit of removing the head i had a pleasant suprise!

Are those the original pistons?? Those bores look tidy! Head/valves clean too!

Yes i know i need to clean the crap outta the bores!

Yes, there late model STD factory pistons.

The "A" stamped on them will correspond with the same markings on the top of the block, they are sizing marks for assembly in the leyland factory.

Ill ask this for Gareth here, as i'm expectiging him and myself to be doing the same thing. The scud that he has around rings we don't want him to score the bore. as I'm not expecting to strip the block from the box.
I would expected the best would be to blow them out them out as much as he can

Gafmo it's already been done I have a compressor on my work van so gave them a good blast whilst of course wearing safety glasses before anyone pipes up about being safe!! Lol
