My mini doesnt seem to go anywhere when you put your foot down ( 1100cc, leyland mini ), she revs up to bout 5000-6000rpm ( is this normal or can they go higher? ) but really has no power, im told the carb is a bit buggered and needs a new needle and seat, seems to blow a bit of black smoke and is running real rich, any similar probs anyone has had, could it be something else? any info would be appreciated.... If it's running rich, it's usually a worn needle. Get the carb prob fixed and see what it's like after that. |

Will a needle and seat come in a rebuild kit? Just got quoted $43.50 for a kit from repco, Cheers |

It would help if we knew what size your carb was in the first place, if a 1.25" S, you really aren't gonna be going anywhere even if you rebuild it 
With a 1.25" SU your going to struggle to see north of 5000rpm anyway.. Ideally you don't want to see much more than 6-6.5k... You want at least a 1.5" on something that is close to stock..bigger if mildly worked.. |

I'd dispute that. If it has the correct needle in it there is a simple way to see if it is running rich at idle. warm it up and undo the damper screw. Gently lift the piston using the damper a couple of mm. If it speeds up it is rich and if it slows down it is lean. Little or no change is ideal. The needle will only get worn if the jet is not centred. If this was the case then the piston will stick. If the jet erodes (and they do) it will start to run rich, then replace the jet. The jet, if replaced has to be centred so the damper doesn't stick. Leave the jet loose and after lifting the damper push it down quickly and then do uo the jet. Check and repeat if necessary. |

Cheers YES this kit includes the float chamber needle and seat. NOT the carb mixture needle.

Are you comparing the performance to some level you've had before? It probably isn't going to be that quick anyway.. What are the engine specs? extractors? Head? Cam? etc... Where are you located? |

im not comparing it to anything, this is my first mini, its standard apart from a scorcher rebuilt dissy, full exhaust and the sidedraught su, Cheers |

Do some head work, a nice cam and you should notice a big difference.. Stock 1100 isn't going to be that fast, mine has had alot of work and puts out about twice the HP as a stock 1100 and i still wouldn't call it fast but it sure is fun 
Don't know what a scorcher dissy is though..? |

Scorcher is the name of the company, and i just mean that they rebuilt it, they are more commonly known for doing 6's and 8's Cheers |
