bit of a fun afternoon today was driving home from the mall and noticed that whenever i put the clutch in a lovely scraping kind of noise would come from the clutch housing side of the engine. Kept on driving home and got up to one of the round abouts, put in the clutch and the engine stops, with a little screaching noise from the same spot. Tried to restart the car and everytime i put my foot on the clutch the car would just stop and also have the little screaching noise. obviously this would be something to do with the clutch/flywheel area but any ideas on where in particular it could be. Sorry im a car/mini noob. |

Its really a relatively easy repair. You need to remove the clutch end cover (spanner job), and then remove the bearing carrier in the middle to remove and press on another bearing. A few hours if you're a learner, but a bread an butter job after you've done a few. The bearing is easily available from the mini shops for about 50 to 80 dollars, although their are two. The advice is to get the more expensive one if you do a lot of driving. |

if you want it back on the road, you can do the clutch while it is in the car. If your going to do just this job, check the plunger and arm for wear, get a new clutch kit (diaphram, plate) and of course new bearing. Probably cost you $150 for the kit, $60-80 for a bearing, $100 bux for new arm and plunger (worth replacing if they are worn). If you have destroyed the bearing, you have damaged the faceplate on the diaphram too. Youll need a clutch puller, and a 32mm or 1 1/4 socket. |

yer know this job a bit, we did the clutch about 2 months ago, and guess wht we forgot to replace... 
Was planning on doing the rebuild work soonish anyway so let the fun begin i guess |
