What are you recommending as far as :
1 . Brand
2. preparation ( last time I tried this the paint went on 1 seat beautifully and on the other it was terrible )
3. Geting a professional to do it .
4. Anything else that I need to know.
5. I am respraying the original faded interior.

i repainted an entire interior of my first car, a morris minor, from red to beige.... i know now i'm older i love red interiors....!

we used Protec vinyl paint and sprayed it ourselves through an old spray gun.

it was heaps cheaper to spray ourselves than use aerosols.

from memory we prepped the surface with either metho or gunwash, nothing too technical, and the job was fantastic, i know the current owner of the car and the interior still looks good 13 years on.

AWOODY, ring auto pro paints and ask what vinyl paint they have, Mikey and I got an amazing blue based red vinyl paint which was pricey but bloody amazing, I would recommend buying from an automotive paint supplier rather than from repco or auto one or super cheap

We have used 2 products over the years to paint on vinyl.
First product is Vinyl ink. this has been used for yonks by those such as screen printers to apply colour to vinyls. It is a lacquer based product and as such sprays well. You need to get the consistency of thinner to ink correct or it cobwebs as you spray it from the gun. It sticks really well and lasts.
Second product is one that has been around for say 8 years Tautflex.
This is a water based product and also sticks well however it comes very thin straight from the can and would be much more difficult to handle with a spray gun. Before you know it you would have more runners than the city to surf.
If it was me i would go for option 1 as i have used this extensively over many years with great success.

With seats you will more than likely have some silicone issues from all the protectants used over the years. This will cause spotting or fish eyes as they are sometimes called. Some major cleaning prior to paint application is a must.
