Any tricks on removing the early ignition from the dash panel?
Without destroying of course :)

No tricks really - just undo the outer ring that has a slot on either side, take it off and then just push the whole unit back towards the fire wall. Then just slide off the electrical connectors one by one (after you note carefully which wire goes on which spade)

Unfused permanent +12v going to the switch from your starter solenoid: make sure you dont earth the exposed lucar spades on the switch or any +12v wire with a non insulated connector on any metal surface (should be thick brown to and thick white from the switch). Its really easy to do so whilst you wriggle the switch out.

Ideally disconnect the battery or the brown wiring from the starter solenoid.

Sorry should of mentioned that outer ring is very tight. Wont budge. Sprayed a little wd40 on it. I dont wont to wreck it! Thought someone might know a special tool that would remove it.
