Should i be happy that i found a good double row timing chain??

This is no-4 crank bearing, reckon i just caught it in time

All the lifters are like this except 2 but the cam looks as new
Image

This is my biggest worry, cos she was sitting for so many years corrosion has eaten into the block face, Will a deck fix this?
Image

2& 3 bores are like this so i guess a rebore is in order, i gave no-2 a quick hone but corrosion marks are still there

Rusty crank journals. Dont you hate it when good things are neglected!!

The block worries me as i cant get another block as numbers will be all out. I know i can buy a rebuild kit online for around$450(minisport) does any one know a ballparkish figure to get the rest sorted, block decked, rebore, crank grind ect, im trying to work out a budget that wont freak the wife out

Block will machine up good.

Just send the bits to a good re-con shop and it will come back all good, it's amazing what they can do.

Is this the LS Maxx ? If so be very clear with whoever decks the block that it is a matching number classic carand the engine number has to remain untouched while they skim the top of the block . It is possible to do and you should check with them if their machine can do it that way before letting them do the job .

I was wondering why you were pulling the engine out
Crack test that crank and balance it with the fly wheel and clutch assembly once its been cleaned up.
Block yep will need to be cleaned up to the next size (if not the followiing)to you will need new piston and rings. Check that the rods are the same weight and straight.

Get some one who knows what they are doing to put it together corretly

Make sure the numbers on the block are saved

All will be Good 8)
