Thanks to all for turning up ![]() BIG thanks to Graham Russell from Russell Engineering and Greig from Mini Classic for supporting the event through the awesome trophies and Graham for manning the BBQ and feeding us all. Also thanks to the guys at MRC, Mark did a great job especially considering he was on his own and had to call a mate and his wife in for support on the day. It was great to see the first year that small blocks cracked the over 50HP mark with both Gerg's mild mannered 998 and Julie/Wayne's beast of a 1220 with 60HP! Rob's 848cc Sports 850 with 47HP is impressive to say the least. Here are the results: Bold is first and runner up is underlined. Small Block 850 Robert BMC848 47 Small Block 998 GR ART16U 67.5 Gerg AV69PF 53.9 Aaron HB10AB 32.9 Small Block 1098 Wayne 38107.H 60 Joe DPO187 35.8 Dennis CL77UB 34.3 Big Block Dr Mini UFE278 81 Michaelb 21627H 68.1 Marlene DVS14U 62.4 Tyson WLD12U 60.7 Steve BLR806 58 Grant F GF071 46.9 Marcello BIP11T 32.9 Hybrid Ray DUS.13S 175.9 Josh SML18U 160.7 Darcy AN22AH 103.2 Nathan AM47YC 74.8 Turbo A-Series Grant RED850 124.7 Other Brian AYP81U 169.3 Polo GTi Ben BGB79Y 106.5 BMW Aaron Smith AO69YN 65 Daihatsu Mira 660cc Turbo[/b] |

Was a great day. Nothing like the sound of an A series screaming and trying to get out. ![]() GR knows how to make a bigblock go, too. The only reason my 1360 got 81HP (and 86.6 last time it ran) is his magic RE282 cam. It's worth 10HP over the RE13 I had in before. Sadly, this cam grind is now NLA, but he has another in the pipeline... ![]() |

You've mentioned that before, but what's to stop him taking one of the few (such as yours) and making another master from it? |

If Graham had a `just ground' 282 cam (no, he doesn't) he could do this. My cam has now done 11,000 MILES. It would have some wear. Any profile errors get magnified when a master is cut. The master on his grinder is 5x bigger in profile than a camshaft lobe. The errors from the master then get transferred onto the new cams being ground. This is why copying off pre-loved cams seldom gives great results. |

Josh, thanks for organising the event - my first but I'll be back next year. Greg (gerg) thanks for getting me onto the list, I'd only tried about 10 times. Dennis |
