Post subject:  sportspack mini??
Hey All

I have searched before writing this (promise) but could not find what I am after, basically - is there an official website maybe a manual I can download regarding suspension and wheel specs for the sportspack?

I require this info for an engineer so it needs to be official, confirming the wheel dimensions and suspension setup, i.e rubber cones etc for the sportspack?

Any help appreciated

Hi, Not that i know of but when i did mine on a Rover Mini about 5 years ago I was able to download a template from Minispares UK site. What is it that your after ? and why do you need it to be official ? Basically, the changes Rover made were:

13x6 Sportspack wheels
Rover Sportspack arches
Bump stops built into the steering rack
Koni Shocks

Whist looking great it really does nothing for the handling of your Mini and be prepared to learn ( if you cant already ) how to change Wheel bearings. 12x6s are a better option for that fat street racer look and really handling great ! 2c worth :)

Factory Sportspack specs are illegal in Australia.
concerning wheel track and rim size.

What ya mean there ? There are plenty of Sportspack Rovers in Oz and many more converted sportspacks knock`n around.

Sportspack run a 13x6, i was under the impression that a 13x6 was legal where a 13 x 7 isn't. Is that the sports pack run 8mm spacer on the rear that make them illegal?

I think the point Monda is making is that if he can get an official factory specification list for a sportspack mini, then the engineer will approve it, on the grounds that as long as the specification has been used on a factory mini anywhere in the world, then it's OK for here.

Ok, With you... As putting any wheel arch combo should be fine as long as they dont bind, rub or exceed the wheel arch right ?

well no, there's a limit to the width and height increase allowed, something like an inch over the largest factory production... or something

and even then its unlikly you will get pulled up on it....I will be running 12x6 Split rims Superlights on mine and when they FINALLY arrive i think they may stick out....a fair bit :?

Simon K is spot on for the reason I am after this info, as iam fitting large brakes (which i have) and require 13 X 6 rims (which I have), legally you can only go 1inch wider than factory ( diameter not such an issue) so hopeing to show the engineer what the sportspack came out with, which was 13X6 rims,.

MiniBob, thanks, i did manage to find a manual for 59-2001 mini, which does state some alloy wheels were 5J X 10, not sure which these were but going to show the engineer this which hopefully will be enough???

I have thrown out a lot of my literature,
but my understanding is that a Sportspack look a like, is not a Sportspack.
Are you going to run genuine rover rims? if not then your on your own.
I run 13*6.5" rims on my car, which is under the legal track, so it all depends on the wheels you use. My 13*6 superlites were overtrack and therefore illegal.
And yes the spacers used on sportspack are illegal in Australia.
