Don't know how they are on Minis but they do a great job on my Alfas.

i'm always contemplating upgrades/changes and was wondering if the dellorto carbs are ok? i don't think i'll afford a real weber so will i get away with a dellorto? are they easily rebuilt and tuned (for people in the know)? btw i've got 1275, cam, extractors etc... cheers |

They are much the same, many years ago had a 42mm delorto on a 1293 very good combo. Delorto parts are now getting very hard to get, they have not been produced for a while, as for webers you can still buy things like chokes, emulsion tubes, gaskets, jets, floats etc. |

I like Dellortos over Webers- for the street anyway. I run a 45DHLA. 
1. they are generally 1/2 the price S/H. 2. they don't suffer from wear in the start circuit like Webers. 3. they can be more economical due to better atomization (Vizard agrees). 4. they don't appear to need a soft mounting kit on an A series like a Weber (well I've tried it both ways, I tossed the kit 10 years ago and now just use a gasket, no probs). 5. Dellorto parts are still easy to get (I get from www.dellorto.co.uk). 6. I find them easier to tune than Webers. And the jets are available in finer steps. 7. Repair kits I used are Fuel Miser DE-250. Made in Oz. |

hehe, i think doc covered most of the points  .
i have a dellorto, i don't mind it but probably shouldn't have put it on the small bore but hey , done and dusted. getting a 2nd hand 1275 going in in a couple of weeks and probably won't put it on it, so could be for sale soon, also, have a webber here that my brother doesn't use that he probably would sell i'll check it ur interested. |

Not rich now.... I've dropped it 2 jet sizes to 175 for street use, and all is good. What happened is, last time on dyno (2 years ago) it was slightly lean with 180 mains in, but made 86.6HP. So, then I put 185s in. It seemed good on the road, but did blow a bit of black soot if I really got up it. 
Turns out this time on dyno they were a bit too rich, not helped by the fact the dyno operator treated the throttle like a light switch... so it wet the plugs at low rpm (it is a race cam, really). It did 2 dud pulls and was still clearing the plugs on the 3rd run. The way it's running now feels like 90HP...
