Started to strip my original 998 tonight.

I have 2 motors to strip, the second is the good one with 1098 crank and +.020" pistons, 12G202 head with double valve springs etc, but in the '75 block.

Once I get this motor stripped completely, I will send the block off to be bored out, and the head will get some hardened valve seats, for unleaded. Might give the ports a little 'tickle' as well

I am getting 'someone else' to spanner it all together for me.

I have to say though......this is my first full on motor rebuild, and nothing beats stripping something yourself. I have learnt so much already! :D

used a zip lock bag for the lifters. they were mint. the ones from the stroked 998 were shocking!!

the bores in this motor still have hone marks, so I think it was rebuilt recently....but not bored...it's a virgin.

Jim......cam.....might be a GR special.

Might have a NEW Weber coming too, from a family friend. (Head of RECARB) got to pay though.....cost price.

no worries mate, we can do it. Just need to get em off the engines and then we can strip em down and work out what you need. There pretty easy from what i have seen. That is once you have seen how to do it. If the Doc wants to show you though, thats cool.

Cheers

Aaron

Dr correct me....The Key is to correct the time with the Cam..It fits into the slot of the Cam and the Smaller of the two timing Sprockets...
