Just been looking through todays leaflets and noticed repco have got a central locking and immob kit for $89 which I think is pretty cheap! Has anyone had any dealing with this kinda kit!? Is it miniable??? |

Jaycar have been selling a central locking kit for under $50 for ages now. (without immobiliser) I've put them in 3 cars and they work fine until the little rod clamp thingoes slip - then they become a pain in the dot. It's a case off door interior trim on and off again over and over. (if you get the kit, you'll know what I mean by rod clamp thingoes) |

i've installed those kits in a couple of japanese cars, and they were fine. i used the Jaycar alarm, immobiliser and central in a mazda and it worked perfectly. mine is a roundie, so no central option, but i've fitted a full alarm and immobiliser from Jaycar and it works a treat. at that price go for it. |

You can spend a $100 in jaycar and walk out with an alarm, immobiliser and the parts to have central locking. I've done it before on a few cars. |

| Post subject: | Rod thingo slipping |
To stop the "rod thingo" from slipping on the rod all you need do is grind a small flat on the rod for the Grub screw to sit on. Like a detent. No more slipping and coming undone. I shouldn't give away these secrets should I ? |

Some of these kits are just great, HOWEVER be careful if you are also getting a remote 'keyless' type entry. Many of the cheap one I've looked at (and I bought one) do not have any 'code hopping' capabilities. Some have a PIN. The ones without anything are a secuity disaster. Anyone can get a spare remote and bingo, they're in your car. The ones with a PIN can very easily be 'cracked' with a scanner and again a spare entry fob. The only real way of being secure is to make sure that it complies to the Australian Standard and is Code Hopping. |

Tricks of the trade have gone into my notebook. As for the alarm why not go all out with GSM coverage etc. Dirt cheap in the scheme of things. Somebody buy one and tell me how it goes. http://www.chinavasion.com/product_info ... g-eu-band/ |
