Just let me know if you guys can see this picture. [picture deleted Sorry I'm still getting the hang of computers so I just wanted to check. Oh yeah if your wondering, this is a MOKE that I did in feb... Now I don't have a dyno, sorry, but it seems to be making ok power to me.. And before you ask, had to start slowing down, was running out of room on my mates property, I don't know what It can get up to. By the way, it was fitted with a copper head gasket.. and is still fitted with that copper head gasket. I'm not "hacking" at anyone who builds their own motors or does them for a living. This is just my findings from what I've done. I have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING against GR, the Doc, David from SA or anyone else who said they had problems. I'd be an arogant little shite if I were to suggest I know more about what I'm doing than they do. Those guys would put rings around me I'm sure of it.Thats not even close to what I'm saying, or who I'm saying it to. I'm just saying, I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is... So don’t make me do it cos it tastes like strippers butt crack ![]() ![]() Regards Phat kat |

well Harely, Next time your in sydney, I'll take you for a drive. Then you can tell me just how broken it is. Please the invite is on the table, I'm not normally one for saying I told you so but, I felt that the point had to be made. We've all seen photo's of blown head gaskets, well heres a working one in motion. I just said I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is... are you? |

So, a little over 150 indicated, call it 140km/h actual. Not too shabby in a Moke with all that brickwork up front ![]() What were the specs on this one? |

To be honest with you simon, there is nothing overly flash about this one, I don't like big HP in mokes because the Diffs don't take it well after a while. Esp with the big wheels, its to much load on the webbing for the dif when you take your foot off the loud pedal, I've seen so many cracked ones over the years. I have a secret fix for it but I still don't like doing it in mokes. To answer your question, I'd say go open a factory workshop manual and read what the factory spec for a 1275 moke is and then just change the comp to 10.2:1 (it was only ment to be 9.75:1 but the block and head needed a skim.. Quiet a skim) and also change the needle. Like I said, nothing flash, I'd guess-termate based on the book + my own experiences I'd say about 70hp ish.. Nothing flash. I know that GR made the point that if low hp would help it longevity, but its High comp and I have another hot street motor that I'd guess-tamate is putting out another 20hp than this one and its going fine.. I'm not saying run out and buy a copper head gasket, not at all. It seems that too many of you guys have had bad experiences and to be honest hearing what you've said has put me right off them. The next motor I do won't have a copper head gasket, I'm just not sure about them now and its a potentially expensive mistake/act of stubbonness.. I just wanted to say, carefull who you call a liar. He might cut your toes off. ![]() |

It's not to bad, I'd like to see what it could do on a paved road though. But I'd rather not get done again. I bet Matt's Twinky turbo moke could get there in about 7 seconds! |

![]() I understand that those bike heads are Alloy aren't they? Don't know how the dissimilar metals would go there, you know copper and alloy, but I'm know engineer so i might be wrong... I think you might know where I can find one though... Depending on how much you read between the lines with the last post I wrote to you in your twinky thread ![]() ![]() Thanks Matt |
