Yes, you're quite right. And the patch will hold the conrod in its place, allowing you to enjoy many miles of comfortable motoring.

At least he's honest, although someone might believe that it's easily fixed and budget an extra $100 on top of the purchase price. It sounds as though he needs to revisit whoever reconditioned the engine.

yes. i respect that he informed the possible buyers, its always a shame when a buyer gets the run around.

can you actually repair holes in the block?

superseven- indeed he may have worded it badly or i misinterpreted the ad. often on the internet it is difficult to capture the true meaning of peoples posts as there is little emotion

You can screw a patch onto a block, I saw 6x 202 Holden motors (off concrete mixers) getting the treatment in Hong Kong once.
I'd be worried about the crank, cam and conrod...

I had a mate with a Sports Sedan Holden that put a rod through the block so he filed the hole round and fitted a bit of pipe to take an extra crankcase breather. :wink:

You could probably machine the hole round and fit a welch plug. :lol:

Engine blocks can be welded up with a arc welder & cast iron welding rods. The engine shop i worked in did it wheneva a block needed repair.

I have a photo of a mini race engine that broke its crank at high rpm, most of the front of the block & gearbox case are gone, distributor & starter motor were smashed off etc etc. ill see if i can find it.

hmmm , also is a 76 but no hole in firewall?

but has tin master cylinders


maybe motor is noisy cause the sound coming out of the hole? but of a patch and it will be fine
