the screws for the hinge on the top appear to be in backwards how the hell am i meant to get to them?

yeah but when he says "Remove the 2 screws from the top of the frame assembly" the screws that are there are in backwards meaning i'm just seeing the thread, how do i get to them then?

Is that looking from the outside of the door frame?

You mean the silver trim that goes around the outer edge of the top of the door frame ? It GENTLY levers off but is very hard to do without stuffing it as it's very fragile. You don't have to take it off to get to the screws though (normally anyway) , just open the doors and the screws should be acccesable from the front edge of the window frame . can you put a photo up of what's happening ?

Try a bit of timber about 6" long and tap against that or some people us a brickies bolster.

i'll do one tomorrow. just to recap, so when i pulled the old seal off and looked up at the top hinge point of the window, the small part that sticks out of the frame, i don;t see the flat part of the screws i see the thread of the screws coming through the frame?

I think I see whats happening here.
You want to remove the top hinge plate but by the sounds of it you haven't removed the 1/4 window from the door. To get to the heads of those screws you must remove the entire 1/4 window assembly from the door. Only then will you be able to get to the top hinge screws and bottom adjusting nut.
Do not remove the chrome finishing strips, you do not need to take these off to replace the door seals and its a horrible job to take it off without damaging anything.
