Now, be nice fellas! Can someone please let me know where the horn is located on a 1963 Cooper. I do know where they don't go, i.e. on the front shut panel like the later Cooper S etc, nor do they go up near the bulkhead where the early 850's have them. Although there are the original 850 mounting holes there the horn then fouls the air intake ducting. My guess is that they mount them lower at the front maybe on the subframe. The wiring for the horn in the old loom and the new loom indicate that the horn is close to the front near where most other mini horns are. There may be a different bracket and mounting location just for the Cooper due to the air ducting but I'm not sure. Photos would be nice. Many thanks wild_willy |

I'll be nice my 997 has high & low horns mounted on subframe under the generator with some extended wires from main harness |

Thank you Goldbrocade. Any chance of a photo of how they mount please. Do they use the standard right angled bracket? I can feel 2 sets of holes in the vertical section of the front subframe with hole spacing at about the right distance for horn brackets. Hole sets are spaced about 250mm from each other. Is this correct? |

If you dont have brake booster or under bonnet heater, you could put them/it on the r/h inner guard. Can post a pic if you want. |

Thanks CD Unfortunately the air ducting runs down the RH inner guard. It appears that Goldbrocade has the answer - mounted on the front subframe. I didnt know that Coopers had both H and L horns though. By the way CD, I just completed the restoration (body only at this stage) of a 1935 A7 roadster. Anyone else who has a 997 Cooper with twin horns mounted on the front subframe??? |

Angle brackets (horns less inclined to hold water) spot on for the holes |

My 61 850 had the horn there too. I bought it in 1964 and I think that was original. |

Thanks to all who replied to this request. Have found both horns but only one bracket so far - need to keep looking. BTW the 63 Cooper is very nearly complete, just a few finishing bits and pieces such as HORNS. |
