Am considering going down the path of S/C small bore (998 + 100thou O/B, lightened bottom end, X pin diff etc)

S/C will be a sc12.... carb will be of the HIF variety... What needs to be done to the carb to suit this type of application?

Nothing.

They work exactly as intended in a suck through application.

you may find that a stronger spring is needed & obviously the correct mixture needle to suit

A HIF turbo carb, or convert yours to have the necessary shaft seals, etc.
