Post subject:  Pulling Right

ive done brakes quite a few times with no hassles. I smashed a brake line on the oodnadatta and had to quick repair it, and managed to get double pump brakes.

now im in Alice, ive had a new line made up and put that on, and checked all pads for wear, adjusted all adjusters. the same process ive always done before.

except this time, when i hit the brakes hard, the car will severely stear to the right.

I kept think readjust the adjusters (in the forward direction on the front sets) and i cant seem to get rid of the severe pull to the right on hard braking.

Any ideas.

no, i took all drums apart, cleaned, checked all pads, adjusts all drums, bled all lines and added new fluids, checked for leaks etc, (smashed a line and bent a nipple on track).

i went through two bottles of fluids to get all air out. Pads are worn, but still have a good 4-5mm on them.

what brake line did you smash and how did you smash it ? Is it possible that you bent the brake backing plate or somehow pushed a wheel cylinder out of position slightly ? Are you sure when you bled the brakes both wheel cylinders were working properly on both sides ? Look for something obvious in either side front brake , something causing one to grab OR one to not work .

was the short line from the hub to hose on the rear righthub. the nipple that was bent the one on the front right.

i took the cylinder out to clean everything up and make sure it was put back together properly. the cylinder didnt look damaged on the rear, and i put some thread lock tape and a new nipple on the front cylinder.

i guess, i just have to go through the car, front to back again.

ok , i was thinking it must have been a front brake hose you broke off . I'd be looking at the front brakes though , they would be more likely to cause the car to pull either way , a rear will normally just lock or slowly pull one way of the other . As a thought check if the thread tape is blocking the fluid .

Steering arm or something in your steering department?

Could be a whole range of possibilities

Are both your caster bars straight?

[edit] and tight? What condition are the caster bar bushes in? If you've destroyed the outer one then the car will pull to that side under brakes.
