Post subject:  Wheel cylinder question

Are the gaskets that go between the wheel cylinders and the backing plate needed? - What is their purpose?

Asked this same question not long ago when replacing my front wheel cylinders and found this from Minisport.

Quote:
This gasket is fitted between the backing plate and the wheel cylinder on any model that had 2 front wheel cylinders per side. These are not necessay, but will prevent dirt/dust and water getting in.

I hope this helps. :?

Rear kits came with gaskets, fronts came without. I didn't worry about it -could have cut some out of card but it also makes the circlip a bit tighter. There is a easy tool that can be made up to make getting the circlip on easier.
