Post subject:  front trailing arm rubber seals ADDED PICS
hay, cant seem to find anything in search.

having trouble getting the rubbers on the shaft properly. They always seem to get out of the groove. is there a special way/trick to getting them on? or do i just go about it. I have tried turning the rubber seals around so it turns into the groove, but it has not worked so far.

any advice/help would be great.

Sorry, not too sure if you are refering to front or rear suspension here, but in any event, they both similar.

The rubber seals for the side thrust washers don't actually sit in a groove, there is a machined landing on the arm, it's only about 5 - 6 mm wide, and the thrust washer itself that the rubber seal sits on. The seal (if new) is a bit smaller in diameter, so don't worry if you need to stretch it a bit.

hi, yeah, im taling about the front suspension.

heres some pics, as you can see, it just doesn't seem correct:

Probably a stupid question, but have you put in the washers that go each end of the arm (front + back)?
If you have then it's o.k., it just keeps dirt and water out :wink:

yeah there in. So like that is fine? i just thought it would have to sit nicer then that. ie, not poking out how it is?

looks only slightly out, your subframe may be bent a little. otherwise are you sure you have the washers on the right sides?

Common problem with these crap new moulds.
They'll shrink up and give you no problems :lol:

Mine are exactly the same.
I managed to poke them down so they seat a little better, but its far from perfect.

Again, it won't give you any grief being like that.

There in the right place no worries, just not seated. They look like new ones, which are a bit fatter to ensure good sealing. If you loosen the rear nut (the big 3/4" AF one) and the two little bolts at the front (don't take them out just loosen) as patently use a blunt plastic tool you should be able to push them in. They don't go easy (which is good because usually easy in means easy out). But if your not inclined, as it is it is about 99% sealed and as long as you keep the grease up to it (and clean the old away) you should be OK.
