Thinking of putting in some aftermarket temp/oil press/ volt guages but i dont want them to look like a dodgey add on ( ive spent enough money on Vera and im not going to wreck her by not knowing whats going on under the hood)i also DONT want to be drilling nasty holes where i dont need em, im thinking under lower crash pad on drivers side so no ugly holes are visable and is there any retro 70s looking guages that will blend in to a degree as i dont want them to stand out as im trying to keep her original, but not to a point where i do engine damage looking at the factory (unreliable) guages. Any pics of your set up would help or if any one has a set of retro guages on offer let me know. Morris1100, they will run their own seperate loom so they can be easily removed and no wire chopping involved, i know your very passionate about keeping her unmolested |

ive posted these b4 on ausmini somewere. there autometer gauges. ![]() they are there old looking style. i like how they fit all the gauges in the one large gauge...would look nice in a standard mini copper dash...but would have to make up a new face for them to mount too. someone one here has done this two... if i ever upgrade from my autometer ultralite ones this is what ill be getting. not sure on here merchanicals...but now days anything can be made to work for a cost. idd exspect these to be over $500 each...or close to it. |

On my 1275LS I fitted a single oil pressure gauge hanging from under the top rail on the right of the triple cluster. There is room for a twin pair of gauges. in that position. If you hang gauges under the bottom rail they become a hazzard to your legs in an accident. Even with an oil pressure gauge I still run an oil light. I also make it a higher pressure switch on the light so it comes on earlier. (I think I was running a 25psi switch) It is quite easy to miss seeing a gauge but a light will draw attention to the gauge. I once had a brand new oil cooler hose blow off and the high pressure light switch saved the day, the light came on and I looked at the gauge to see it dropping rapidly! Where I was it was very likely that I would not have looked at the gauge for about another km as it was just going into a busy town. Or you could do what a lot of other have done and drill some holes in the speaker box to fit them. ![]() |

Here is my setup. May be not what you are looking for as I have a custom dash. The VDO gauges are backlit red, I have also got my speedo/tacho/fuel gauges with a red backlight as well. Since the photo I have painted the needles red to match the VDO gauges. Certainly not original but looks great at night! |
