Heyas,
For some reason my oil filter is hitting the subframe, which is causing an oil leak at the gasket. Its the cartridge type filter, but is there any reason it would be doing this? Its got new engine mounts and engine steady bushes but it must be tilting too far backwards still?
Cheers,
Dave

There should be quite a bit of 'room' between the oil filter casing and the subframe. Has it only been doing this since you put the new engine mounts in?

Also, is the front rail of the subframe bent? (looking from front on it should be straight).

I had this problem after an engine swap.
Changed the filter housing and filter to the spin-on type which gave me heaps of room.
I think morris 1100 filters may be spaced futher away from the block than mini ones???

well its only happened this time on reassembly (took out the engine and subframe to be painted - put back with new everything pretty much) and i never noticed it till oil was pissing out when i was cranking it over :x

hmm would it matter that the remote housing is only on finger tight? (ie really loose) that would tilt the engine forward fractionally?

If you have the later English Metro type oil filter head then they do stick out a lot further

can you show us a pic of your oil filter head???

is the front end held up by the chains and hook? the filter may be hitting because the weight of the front end isnt down. just a guess really.

is the subframe bent or twisted?

also you clutch arm is bent, replace it

sorry but i can`t see it hitting the frame,,, the pic just doesn`t quite show it properly

Is it hitting ,,, like constantly on the frame?... or just missing it by a little tiny bit? is there any gap at all???
