Have replaced the hub and wheel from my 1965 Deluxe with a auto technica one. Trying now to remember how the wiring works. Is it correct that the earth wire runs down the centre of the column before contacting the brass earth ring around the column which also earths the turning indicator switch? The active wire for the horn I think should run up the column (purple/black) and then enter the boss from behind via a the small hole. Logic would say when the centre button is pressed it earths out and completes the circuit? If this is right does the active wire just keep winding around the steering column when you are turning the steering wheel left and right? Doesn't seem to be the best way. Cheers |

The positive for the horn is from the fuse box to the horn. There is no active wire inside the car. The earth to the horn runs from the horn to the button via the blinker wiring and then into the contact on the column and into the centre of the column and horn button. When you press the button you are earthing out the horn. |

When you press the button you are earthing out the horn. Thanks Morris - this helps. The purple black/wire runs back from the horn into the loom and comes out at the base of the steering column. The wires coming down from the indicator switch doesn't have a purple/black wire. So do you run another wire or does it connect to the brown/black wire that seems to be the earth for the switch? If that is the case the horn would be on all the time?? |

Does your switch have a contact on the side of it that rubs on the brass contact on the column? |

Yes and that is connected to the brown/black wire. The switch is a new one so maybe the colour coding is amiss. Would make sense to connect it to the purple/black Final question - does the actual indicator switch earth via being connected to the steering column or should it be earthed back into a black wire in the loom? |

Good, that wire should only earth when the button is pushed. |

Very good! Just edited the above post asking if the indicator switch earths on the steering column or goes back to a black wire in the loom????? |
