I want to keep the original rear trumpet they are in good condition. What i want to know is do i refit the spacer ring between trumpet and new ball joint ?

Certainly on the front, I've found that the spacers were factory fitted in the 'latter' cars. On the rears, some did and some did not and there were different thickness washers. I can only guess that it was used as an adjustment point by way of shimming. All the parts book says is 'As Required'. |

these spacers were on the rear but not the front suspension. ???? |

It may be an 'earler' car prior to them being fitted or it may have been gotten at before you bought the car. I noticed that in the very late english cars they actually use a different knuckle joint that has the spacer built in. |

thanks GT mowog I will just try refitting the spacer ring as it was in the car. i dont realy understand if this will lift the car or harden the suspension. i have new rubbers to fit as well. i dont realy have all the information. so i hope someone here can help |

It is there to lift the car. It does nothing to harden the suspension. |

my english made 60 car has the welded rear swing arms and trumpets without the spacer washers. both of the 850,s that have the later cast swing arms with the welded trumpets have spacers. There could have been a difference in the swing arms and the spacers were used to get the correct ride height with the welded trumpets |

Are these welded trumpets getting hard to find or are they still around, i have a set that i am not going to use. are they worth anything? |

Thanks guys My feel is if they were there in the first place replace them. "Are these welded trumpets getting hard to find or are they still around, i have a set that i am not going to use. are they worth anything?" I dont know if they are worth anything. i know they are rare to find. I want to keep everything i can that is original if its in good nic. |

Yes to a restorer they are very valuable. I don't know what you'd be able to sell them for though. Tim |
