Hey everyone Just bit confused... Bought a hyd jack and a couple of axle stands just wondering if i wanna jack up the front of the mini and hold it with stands where would be safe points for: a. the jack to lift b. the stands to sit???? |

Depending on the Jack and the condition of your engine mounts, jack it under the sump (use a thin piece of wood if need be) and place the stands under the part of the subrame where the lower arm (and drive shaft) go. If you cant jack under the sump, the welded bracket on the subframe for the radius arm can be used, but watch it as you go up that the arm doesn't contact the jack - it could bend the arm. Don't jack straight under the body or place stands there either. The body is really not strong enough on its own. |

I usually jack beneath the front mountings of the radius arms. Just behind the front valance. As GT said, be careful you don't bend them. Stands go on either side of the subframe, near where the two rear bits go back to the floor of the car. |

awesome cheers for that... the ancient mini manual i have says you should jack and stand directly below the inboard i think ball joint on the lower arm or some crap like that but i dunno Hoba |
