 Post subject: Rad drain plug.

Hey i was thinking of going upto a rad shop & getting them to put one in my rad.

to make it easy to drain.

think it's a good idea? im going to pay to get this done any idea what it would cost me?

very good idea much easyer than accesing that bottom hose ,,,,,although removing the hose may allow for the bigger pieces of rust to come out :roll: :roll: :roll:

hehe.. i reckon mate!

i have had mine all acid cleaned ages ago.

but i mean if it's gonna be more then say 70 or 80.

ill just buy one of them cheap ebay rads.

I've thought about on of them cheap rads, cheaper than a recore.

IMO a drain is only good for letting coolant out in a controlled manner. I usually poke a tray under and remove the lower hose (i have small hands and can do that) 8)

And like jimmy said, big bits of rust, silicone, gasket, water pump vanes, small animals will get caught in it.

Some mini radiators already have the drain on the bottom of them. At least mine does. I still find it easier to just take the bottom Radiator hose off. If you have the clamp positioned right, so that you can get to the screw with a long screwdriver, it really isn't too hard.
