Post subject:  changing to elec dizzy - no start - advice required!!!

Hi all,

I have just changed my old dizzy (standard with points) to an electronic 65DM4.

I was told to run wires direct form the coil to the two outer pins on the dizzy and if it does not start simply swap them over...

Done that still not starting just turns over - have spark.

Q: Am i supposed to do anything with the wire that was connected to the old dizzy?

Is there anything I might have done wrong?

I 'think' I have the new dizzy on the correct spot - what checks can I do to ensure this?

Cheers, Bryan

If you have spark then the timing must be wrong.

Use a timing light while cranking and check that it is some where close.

It does have a rotor button fitted?
