On the back of the inlet manifold there are 2 vacuum ports one with a red coloured identifying rubber ring and one with a white/cream coloured rubber identifying ring around it........Just wondering where or what these go to otherwise im thinking I might just block them and see how it goes.

Symptoms.......
will start and run for a few seconds then stall (you can from in the cabin hear it gulp a large amount of air prior to stalling), to keep it running you have to keep the revs up.
Once at operating temp if you turn the engine off it wont start you have to let it sit for about 5 mins before you will even get a "kick" from the engine.
When running you can see the fuel pouring down the sides of the throttle body and on to the butterfly.
Yes I have had it on the diagnostic machine and it throws out different "codes" all the time (every test) but most are related to some sort of vacuum leak or O2 sensor or ECU (it has a green vac line running from the ecu to a little black box (its name escapes me at this point in time) then it runs another red vac line to the air cleaner housing.)
When I pulled the inlet manifold off the locating ring for cylinders 1 & 2 was twisted in on itself (aka snail shell style) and may not have helped with locating the inlet manifold onto the cylinder head so it may have been sucking air from there as well but it did look as though it was sitting and sealing quite well (will check again shortly).

If someone by chance has an spi mini that they wouldnt mind crawling around the engine bay and having a look (you will need a mirror) or those that have a service manual that has the info Im asking for that would be awesome/very helpful.....Thank you.

Please those who have no idea inregards to the info I am after please do not post on this thread, Thank you.

As you look at the manifold from the front of the car the vac port on the right, red ring (passenger side) goes to the air cleaner.
The one on the drivers side, should be yellow, has a short hose to the fuel trap then from the fuel trap to the ECU.
Have a read of the following ; http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/in ... wforum=140
Also the problem with restarting could be your temp sender in the manifold or the crank angle senser behind the starter motor.
I hope this has help a little but the link above is related to SPI/MPI issues and has a heap of good reading.
Cheers Pete

EDIT
Have a look at this pic it may help as well

:D Sorted :!: Thanks Pete for the diagram.
Owner of the car during assembliy must have put the "red hose" from the fuel trap to the air filter housing instead of to the back of the manifold and the "yellow hose" from under the air filter housing to the "waxstat or bimetal" device on the air filter ram tube instead of to the inlet manifold.
:D Anyways its running quite nicely now and probably would put some w@nkers orange wanna be round nose ute to shame :!:

Problems on the SPi can be real bitch can't they!

Make sure to keep that fuel trap clean (You will find the plastic prongs fit perfectly over the nozzle on an aerosol can of degreaser), and make sure those hoses stay split free. The smallest split and the engine goes to crap.

Everytime I have had an engine issue so far, it has came back to be inlet related.
