See if you can get a hold of Britishvita. He is a spraypainter (either that or he is damn good at walkin the walk :) ) and he lives in SA.... If he doesn't work as one currently, he will probably know some one who does...

britishvita,,, sorry for dropping you in it budy

I now Steve from ( Brickworx) EX what a shame, used to send all his cars to a good painter in Mildura, dodn't think there was one good enough locally that he coulkd trust, so you may have some problems finding a good one locally.

Whats your budget? Crispin Crash, Gil Oxley Motor Bodies, Cafasso can do good paint but won't want older bodywork to fix, Keswick Crash.. Depends on your budget, obviously.

Britishvita isn't a painter... He's an insurance salesman

haha you wish - I'm a broker but do spraying for "fun" when I have time which is very very rarely at the moment... Need to take some holidays to get a few projects done!!

There are a few good painters around in SA but it's hard to try and find someone to do some resto work as insurance crash repairs give them a good turnover of money. The guy Steve uses is great but I don't think he does a lot of cars so may not have enough time either. Cafassos are great but I wouldn't of thought they'd take on an older project unless it was some rare Mercedes or Porsche worth big dollars.

Get a few quotes from a few painters in your local area and ask to see if they have any pictures of previous resto work they've done.

I wouldn't think you'd get much change from $2,000 just for an arcylic job and not back to bare metal either to give you an idea.

There's a guy called Brian Clifford that runs his own small shop at Panorama that is really good - if you're near him go past and see what he quotes.

cheersfor the help guys.
i went around with the trailer today and got a few quotes from the lonsdale region, i've already gotten her back to almost bare metal and there are a few bits that need fixing. Quotes were ranging from 5k-6.5k but most of them were in 2 months time i could get it.
Saw M.S panel and paint and they can do it straight away for around the 5.5 mark and i saw a monaro he'd been doing up and that was schmick so reckon i'll head back there tmrw and get him to do it.

Not sure where you live, but there's a bloke in Willunga who will get mine one day - he's a bit of a mini "expert" and I believe very good and reasonably priced. His name's Peter (no relation haha), not sure of the business name, but it's near the main intersection in Willunga - will try to get more detail if you're 1/2 interested.
Peter.

Lurking with keen interest in this thread as im in the process of stripping the 1275LS down to metal at the moment and may be looking for someone to paint it.

I want it stripped back to metal inside and out, painted all over and body sealer/sound deadening on the undersides.

I think i'll start looking for a second job now ...

Sending a PM Gareth

I'd rather that if there are 3 variables in the job , Money , Time , Quality that the Time variable is the one that is shifted, as you say it takes as long as it takes.

I'm going to need panel work done if i don't do it myself which is the advantage of me stripping it down before handing a bare shell over on some form of dolly (subframes etc will be out) as I have already found some previous bare metal repairs where a PO hasn't bothered getting a job done well, i.e. weld some metal in and just bog over it , don't worry about the welds sticking out , the bog will hide it  (will post an update pic or 2 on my resto thread)

This is NOT the style of repair I want done on a car i own :?
