My thoughts.

Burnt oil = carbon
carbon under valve = burnt out valve

perhaps #4 is the worst burning and hence creating the most carbon

If I am right the only way to "fix" it is to rebuild properly.

Fix valve, then decoke every few weeks using the water trick to prevent such a carbon buildup.

What is the water trick? Is that spraying water into the carb throat with engine running?

yep, but in small amounts i.e. a spray bottle, not a garden hose.

Yeah but if he used the garden hose he would not have to worry about a burn't valve, just broken &/or bent everything else

I just did some googling and found this page which described a mechanic hooking up a hose to the vacuum port with the other end in a bottle of water  Hmm I might try that actually, with a hose clamp to control the rate. That'll allow me to do this trick without an assistant ^_^
