Post subject:  Suspension cone 'washer'

Hi all,

Am in the process of rebuilding my front end, which is a mix of Moke and Rover bits.

The Moke 'hilos' are stuffed, they are threaded into the really flattened cones and then well rusted there, no wonder I could never turn the adjusting nuts!
So I plan to use the rover trumpets new cones, and rover swing arms...

When I pulled the rover bits apart there is a 2.5 or 3mm thick washer between the trumpet and ball, which i figure gives about 5-10 mm height lift, so if I take the washer out, it will be lowered by 5-10 mm.

So what is the ratio between the swing arm pin, cone ball/socket and axle so I can calculate this height change?

And does the washer do anything else (other than hieght change)?

I know I should just buy some hi-lows, but not right now OK!

The ratio of the front arms is 3 : 1 and for the rears (in case you need it) is 5 : 1.

The washers are only used for height adjustment.

Trust this helps.
