Generally The layshaft The double row main and various other bearings. YOu may also need to replace gears if there are worn. Cheers Aaron |

Depends what the bearings etc are like. When I pulled mine out to change the cam, the gearbox cost me nearly $600 in parts alone. And I didn't need to do the 4 synchros, which are over $30 each now! ![]() Whatever, change all the needle bearings and check the layshaft, which is invariably stuffed. |

As I'm finding out at the moment some of those parts are not cheap. The double row main bearing was over $100,the lay shaft bearings will be around $50 and I know that I need at least one new diff bearing which I haven't priced yet. A new selector fork is horrendously expensive and for such a small item a diff competition pin isn't cheap. If you have the gearbox apart you might as well put a central oil pickup in ,another $80-$90. At least I had a good layshaft, gears and syncros.Still its a good learning experience and its one thing at a time at the moment. |

Look close at the layshaft, inside the 1st gear end of cluster gear. If it's wearing thru the hardening, bin it. ![]() |

It's not the laygear you replace, but the layshaft. They are $50 -$90 depending where made and material spec. Dearer is better. ![]() |
