Came across a clubby today with a 4 spd remote box, that would not engage 2nd and 4th gear. Anyone ever had this problem and an idea of where to look to fix it?

What type of gearbox has it? eg rod shift or remote type?

If it is remote, it sounds like the knuckle joints that are on top of the diff housing have stripped or come loose. Not a difficult fix just a bit awkward.

Pull the inlet and exhast manifold off and they are down there, sitting above the diff. If you also take off the remote shifter and the engine steady, you should be able to rock the motor forward a bit to make it a bit easier to get your hands down there.

Yes it is a 4spd synchro remote change box.

Hmm, that sounds like fun, not a real nice spot to get too.
