I just checked my water level in my radiator and noticed a rusty colour under the lid and around the inside on the tank...the coolant is still green..its a brand new radiator....and i just had a new..(second hand) engine put in.. When i touch the rusty stuff..its like dirt..not a slug/milky.. Can anyone give me any ideas what has caused this and how to fix it. Should i just flush it or is there more to it?? Also is it normal for a 1275 to run 3/4 hot on the temp sometimes just under the HOT HOT mark and this is on a cool day/night?? Cheers X |

When you fitted your new engine, did you clean out the heater? A lot of crap can accumilate there. There is a possiblility that it could have come from the enging, but I would doubt it. The 'slim'could be from the coolant you are using or some residual de-greaser from the engine reco. Regards your engine temp, check it against something accurate (capillery gauge) before worrying too much about it. Also find out what temp thermostat you have in it (88 degree ones run about where yours is - 82 deg run about mid way). |
