Hi guys, My car squeaks at the back. Then I found out the radius arm pivot shaft nut was not tight enough, so I tightened it and also sprayed some WD40, which managed to get rid of the squeak for a while. Then it squeaks again today after a drive at Albert Park (the road is just terrible), checked the shaft nut (still tight), so I sprayed WD40 again, and no more squeak. What might be the problem around that back area? Considering WD40 seems to cure the problem temporarily, it has something to do with the radius arm, doesn't it? This happens on the right side only. I bet it needs the pivot shafts greased. There is a nipple on the outer end, behind the rubber plug in the cover. But if it's been squeaking it may be too late. 
If the shaft seizes in the arm, it then wears the subframe hole oval at its inner end, so I would check that too. Repair kits are not too expensive, but the outer bush in the arm needs reaming to size after fitment. |

Thanks drmini... So I just need the radius arm rebuild kit? Btw, how do I make sure it won't happen again in the future? Just a lot of grease will do? And just wondering if installing rear camber bracket could have anything to do with that? It didn't squeak before I did the alignment. Daniel |

Grease it often. Like, 10 shots every 6000 miles... 
They are a bit of a bugger to get apart (edit- I mean bearing and bush out) if you don't have the gear. Likewise the reaming of the bush, but Mini repair places will do it all for you if you take them the arms. The camber bracket kit would not have affected it. |

would I be correct in saying the the brushes & or shaft would have been worn before the rear camber brackets were fitted. Once they were fitted the they had moved slight in relation to each other and the lack of grease has then made it all squeak. If it happening on one side its bound to be close to on the other side also |

How long ago was the alignment done Daniel and have you driven it much since? Best to get the arms checked for freeplay before you do bushes...as Doc said they may just need grease.........If you dont want to put new bushes in I have some rover trailing arms with good bushes that will do the job.

The knuckle joint - when worn through the nylon cup - will squeak just like the needle rollers |

Is it possible worn knuckle joints (or any other worn component) may affect the trailing arm as well? |

The rear knuckle joints are IN the trailing arm. And unlike the pivot shaft, NO grease is provided beyond the smear it was assembled with 30 or 40 years ago. 
Same with the front ones. There is no grease drilling to the knuckle joints. How to grease them all? I have a `grease needle', basically it's a hollow needle with a nipple on the end. You push it gently into the rubber boot and give a couple of pumps of EP2 grease. Once every 10 years or so is plenty.
