has anyone got evidence that a 1275 efi car in a 80 to 88 rover can pass an emissions test, as the rules seem to have changed once again so carby cars arent able to be complied anymore, am wanting to hear primarily from anyone in victoria but any info interstate would be great.
long story short is we bought a few late model rovers that were carby and we were told were able to be complied, however this at the moment doesnt seem to be possible and before we explore other options with sevs(govt body) would like to know any info
cheers josh

Get onto Oz cooper. They've been through all that crap for full compliance of Jap spec 97 onwards models (same engine).

Don't know how easily they'll give up the information though.

Does this mean that from now on the only new minis being brought out here and complied will be injected ones?
That's going to push the price up on them if you have to do a conversion.
Should've held on mine a bit longer! :D

will get on to ozcooper but trying to get info on earlier cars(have got a 98 on the way to be complied by them anyway, will be for sale shortly)
according to all engineers carby cars have never legally being able to be registered in oz unless they were a personal import, if anybody knows anything different then im all ears, dont care what state your from , would prefer to just leave the carby engine in the car but ive been told its impossible to comply to aussie emission standards.

Contact John Fitzmaurice, Cooper cars Australia. He got the licence to import 1990s model rover minis back in the early 90s and went through the entire process to bring cars in & comply them.

have got someone in contact with henry but he's not 100% as to whether an emisions test was done back then.
we are happy to put efi engines in these carby cars if it gets it through vass certificate rules but no engineer at this stage will say its 100% ok and as we had several engineers saying that carby cars were fine previously when it came to the crunch they changed there mind and said emissions test($5000 per test and pretty much no chance they will pass) we want to make 100% sure that putting efi in will be ok otherwise if anybody is after rover shells for race cars let me know.
cheers josh

Not sure about vic regs but in NSW you can have your car tested for free by the RTA at Penrith and there is another location in Sydney central on the IS240 test machine, this is what all the clubman sports car people have to do, now there are diffrernt tests for different emissions levels right up to ADR 79/01 and i believe that this test is valid in Vic and Qld as a lot of the builders have to drag there cars here to test because the only other test facility is owned by Toyota i have been told.

Nothing is impossible but it canbe expensive and very drrawn out if they want you to comply everything and you really need to talk to a Vic roads approved engineer andif i can help you in any way you have my number, you are quite welcome to use my address to register the cars for a year in NSW and then transfer to Vic later on

Jon
