How hot is the exhaust manifold meant to get? After rebuilding the engine, I ran the cam in and kept it above 2000rpm, after awhile the extractors were glowing red! The paint in the engine bay directly next to the exhaust was burning and smoking! So I bought some exhaust wrap to help insulate some of the heat. My question is, does exhaust wrap smoke when new:?: Here is a video of it starting to smoke up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBEp98OALnM And one after the engine is off http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmdzG38NSaY |

I don't think the exhaust is supposed to get red, I'd see if your car is running too lean. |

I swapped in a new needle today, old needle was infact running too lean mid-high end. Old needle was a BBA, new is BCF. But is exhaust wrap meant to smoke up? ![]() Seems an awful lot of smoke. |

be wary of the exhaust heating up the carby, this will affect the performance and tuning of the carby. |

I bought mine online from eBay, seemed like the cheapest option compared to retail stores. |

try road and track in ipswich. or revolution racegear. i live ipswich way so road and track would be the easiest. not sure if they actually stock it anymore though. revolution racegear carry that stuff in stock. they have a branch here in brisbane somewhere. Jason Ipswich |
