I've had a request from Racing Green (our resident Belgian mini ute fanatic) for some photo's and details of the yellow V8 mini ute that was at Summernats a couple of years ago . I'm coming up short so has anyone else got any info or photo's on it ?

When does a Mini not become a Mini?

I was looking at the superfast mini site recently. It's a Honda VTEC engine coupled to a four wheel drive chassis. Internals were all non-standard. What made it a Mini - it had a roundnose body plonked on top!

By the sounds of it - if the windscreen to nose looks like a Mini then that's it?!

I quite like this one because it has been engineered and by the looks of things, the owner loved it, for probably two reasons it was a classic minii turned into a crazy V8- it was personalised for his/ her taste.

It is much better in every respect, than the charade mini (penrith...i think) it was on ebay, charade front end (flared, then attempted a clubman front) probably all with bog. I think the cha-mini-rade started the swine flu epidemic.

It used to be a teal green panel van. The original owner was a speedway guy. He just built it like all his race cars - chassis and driveline with a body over the top. Looked WAY cooler as a van.

The new owner then nade it a ute as we see here, and one stage after that it had $100 notes airbushed all over the floors.

Runs and drives from what i remember.

Like the clean look on the outside - did you make special hinges or just internal Mini ones?

Presume you can open the door because you have no window?! No door handle on outside.

Thanks Ian and folks, there's some pics above I've never seen. I had that car in mind but couldn't find the pics anymore.

Its style looks like this american one, with the small axle, big wheels and even the flame job:

Not sure if it's a V8 but the front end does look a bit longer then usual so I suppose it's not an 850. It was offered for sale lately for the equivalent of about 25.000 euro.
