Post subject: | My New Motor |
Hi all, I'm getting pretty excited about my motor. So far it has had all the work done at the machine shop. Its, 1330cc, crank has been ground 20/20. 12g940 head has been cleaned up with new valves etc. GR has recommended a 266 cam, so it will be dropped of tomorrow as well as the cam followers to be resurfaced. As soon as the clutch and stuff arrives it will all be sent to be balanced and lightened. Hopefully back on the road in a couple of weeks. I don't think it will put out massive figures, but should make a good drivable car. Has anyone had a motor with similar specs? How was it? What about the cam? |

Are you referring to the cam aaron? Does it produce good power? I don't want it to be a slug! |

It depends what you want. If you want good low speed pull for khanas, traffic etc a 266 is great. But if you want another 5HP+ and better upper midrange/top end, get an RE13 or similar. Its duration is around 274 degrees or so. |

same specs, bar maybe type of piston, compression . dont know what you have. it is a good motor. 266 is all you need, unless you want to spend your life on a dyno showing people how big your motor is and how small your anatomy is. You'll find it fun ![]() |

The pistons are ACL, but beyond that, I don't know the details. Thanks for the responses guys. It probably won't see the dyno......but I have been known to show off my anatomy. |

Aren't you at least a tad curious? |

I'm a bit curious. But its only a number. I'm more interested in how it drives. The only time it will probably be on a dyno is for tuning. In the end, all dynos are different, so its like comparing apples with oranges. |

Yep, I had a 1330 and a Kent 266 in my van before it went 1360/RE13. The former combination was good in traffic, reasonable idle, and pulled well off the mark with plenty of low down torque. But it ran out of puff in the upper mid range, bit like the old 731did. For every day city driving though it was fine. |

Hi Slide, 1360/RE13. What carb are you using, and what is your usable rev range as a daily driver, without floging the crap out of it? |

Metro HIF44 on Oselli Torquemaster inlet and Maniflow LCB2, twin RC40 , BV Airflow Developments 1316 head, Lumenition recurved S dissy and Mk1 S box with 3.4 on 10 in wheels. 3 to 5,000 rpm is where it is mostly at with the odd blast up to 7 and more when necessary. |
