I am just about to put a set of coils in the rear of my Mini so I will be cutting the subframe down. I am also making a new floor and am looking at enlarging the tunnel and offsetting it to the near side slightly. If I do this I can put coolant lines under the floor and run them to a radiator in the vacant space in the centre of the subframe. I already have a Audi A3 rad that I ran as a front mount in my old Clubby, will two 12" thermos provide enough cooling? The rad will be canted to increase throughflow and it will have a large duct pulling air in. Oh it will eventually have to cool a 130+HP(hopefully) engine. Thanks again, James. |

Im no engineer, but as long as you have a decent shroud and the fans are set up to flow in the right direction and you create an escape for all of the air flow it should work. Had a mate in qld who had the sam kind of setup in a 600hp vk commodore, which he somehow managed to drive pretty regularly, and he had no probs his boot mounted radiator. He had holes cut in the top of his boot to help air flow get out, so couldnt drive it in the rain, and was a pain in the ass to wash, but still driveable. |

Youve got to ask your self a few questions, Do you have a powerful enough water pump to push water that far around the car? Where is the air coming from? If its a track car having a big air flow under the car is an aerodynamic nightmare. And the vents in the boot would be a necessity. So weigh up the options and have a crack. Its definitely not a commonly done thing, so itll always be unique. |

scott ball who runs in the victorian hillclimb championship runs one with plenty of success, i think he runs a standard water pump.. dont know exactly what the rad is out of but its a little modern car of some description.. |

Baracade had a rear mount in BigBad, it now lives in QLD. http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... &start=105 Have a read of his build tread, the radiator part starts on page 8. Cheers Pete |

Hmm that baracade setup is different, I already own an electric water pump so I'll be using that. I am also looking at rolling the rear of the floorpan to help create a low pressure zone to force more air through the radiator. It will all be registered so I will chat with an engineer soon, the one I have talked to seemed to know his Minis. |
