Post subject:  Generator to Alternator.

I am converting from a generator setup to a Lucas 15 AC alternator. I think from looking through previous posts the Lucas 15AC i have has an internal regulator as it has no plastic back on it and no wire connection for the F terminal on the alternator. Is this correct?
I am following Tony's link to rewiring for the alternator but would it also work if I:
Run one big heavy wire from + on back of Alternator to battery side of starter solenoid. The big wire that did run from back of generator to D on control box can be taped up both ends as no longer needed. The existing wire on battery side of starter solenoid that went to A on control box will now carry power to all the wires from AL, A, and D that are joined together.
E is disconected.
The small wire on D connects to F that goes to IND on alternator for charge light on dash.
I am thinking it will work but can someone please confirm.
Thanks.

Adding a heavy wire for the charge lead is a good idea. It will also be a good idea if you use the rest of the original wires at THE OLD CONTROL BOX D+ to Alt B+ and all the A wires joind up to D+. As I explained in the How to. This will give you better voltage all round. Why leave wires that can help the system "Unused"?
