Post subject:  Air filters,,, who's usin' what?
I've always preffered K&N, standard or a UniFilter "sock filter" over a standard filter for off road... Can't say I've used many of the others (apart from a Ramflo once), so I just wanted to see what everyone else was using. And if I'm lucky, if any of you guys have tried the "Pipercross" or "itg" filters.

Not just curious about High flow performance filters though, so even if you've got a special filtration system for off road treks aswell I'd like to hear about it.

Just thought it would make for a interesting topic and hopefully a reference for anyone else who's interested.

Airhogg, run both the clubsport and the Bastard Smurf with em, nothin to do with minis tho
They get dirty , i hose em off, too easy

Originally started with Ramflo's until the foam filters fell to pieces,then went to ram tubes and the sock filters(RED ones as they are faster!!)-which I will have to sell soon. Now running with K&N's

Had K&N, then Ramflow, now ram tubes with red Unifilter socks.

That's the way I rate them in order of performance too, except I think the Ramflow actually did the best job of removing dust particles.

Don't you mean worst??? :shock:

The standard Ramflo element is crap. Chaning to a Unifilter element helps.

The Moke currently has a big elbow on the carb and a green cotton pod filter. It seems to work okay and sounds great! :D

You run tennis socks on your car don't you?

I run ram tubes and red uni's, I like their ease of cleaning and oiling, makes it cheap too.

I'm running these. They take a standard Ryco element, and have stubstacks cast into the mounting flange.

Just to clarify: K&N < Ramflow < Unifilter socks

The tennis sweat bands are on the master cylinders Smarty :P

Not having a `weber box' I use a Ramflo filter on the 45 Dellorto, with Unifilter LNX400 foam in it.
These foams are good- much less restriction than the originals, they don't fall to bits, and (if oiled with Unifilter oil) they collect lots of road muck too.
At around $9 each, they are excellent value.

I used to use Finer Filter foams, but they got bought out years ago by Unifilter.

Piper X here and have had it for 5-6 years. Always cleaned up and oil easy. Filter has only just died and had to replace it. I'd get one again but I have a spare Ramflo for the Van so Ill give it a go

I've had ramflo for years, and have replaced a couple of elements.

The best dirtying i gave one was in a day of khanacross, the car didn't loose too much power but at the end the filter was a dusty dome on the carb with a bunch of tiny holes, inside it was pure, just oily foam, it kept the dirt out good.
