Post subject:  HIF6/HIF44 Carb

Are these carbs one and the same?

I see them listed together all over the place, can anyone shed any light?

Thanks!

HS6 (if that is what you're talking about) is the 1.75" SU with the float on the side like a normal Mini SU (but bigger).

HIF44 is 1.75" with the float on the bottom.

Both the same size and both use the same needles and stuff.

HIF6 and HIF44 are the same just in metric and imperial measurements, they do use different needles and springs internally too, the piston is even on a ball bearing to assist in a smoth slide etc.

So is one better than the other? Also, 44mm ~= 1.75", what the hell is 6 for?

Can anyone tell me what he HIF bit stands for?

I think the 6 is for 6/8 ths the old imperial carbies were named with the number of 1/8 ths they were over an inch

so
HS2 = 1 1/4 inch carbie
HS4 = 1 1/2 inch carbie
HS6 = 1 3/4 inch carbe

Correct me if I am wrong :?
