How many Sunshines were made???? I believe they are the ones with the 'distinct' sunroof, right??? There is one in a front garden that I know of - it's been sitting there for ages - unloved and unregistered - so do I make a silly offer of a carton of beer and hope he/she doesn't know the true value. Looking at it from the street, there's a fair bit of rust, but it looks complete. What to do, what to do, what to do........... |

I think it would be better to offer $500 , it a bit less than you think its worth and and a bit more than they think it's worth sitting in a yard. If its genuine then its worth restoring ( Watto can correct me ) , I think they only made about 600. The rust is going to be a problem , but a problem that can be fixed if you have the budget and the time. . |

nahh get it for what you can. If they're happy selling it to you for $x and your happy buiying it for $x go for it. I wouldnt offer them $500 straight up... start stupid that way you can move up.... Good luck P.S. Make sure it is a sunshine as a lot of leyland minis have had sunroofs put in by their owners |

Make sure it is a sunshine as a lot of leyland minis have had sunroofs put in by their owners Don't offer them $500 to start with......that'd just be stupid. It's a dilapidated mini rusting away unloved. Offer something stupidly low, and then you can be pushed up from there. If you start at $500, they may sh~!t their pants and say yes, because they would have expected it was only worth $150 and would have happily taken the lesser amount ![]() You always know that if your first offer is accepted, you offered too much! If you put your car/house/whatever up for sale and it sells for the asking price in 24hours, you asked too little!! Edit, spelling |

Thanks folks. The main point is the sunroof must be the right one. There is a round button on the dash next to the headlight switch, it is for the vacuum seal for the sunroof. |

It is true..an offer too high will raise suspicion. And suddenly they won't sell at all. On the other hand it's nice to get a bargain but it feels better to know you haven't "ripped" them off. But you never know they maybe perfectly happy to just get the thing off their front lawn and little bit of money is icing. It's always delicate. |

Issue 7 of The Mini Experience Only 360 made, so you decide if it's rare enough to go for ![]() As stated, it was effectively a Mini S with a Sunroof, but it had to be the Autosun Sportsroof with the vacuum activated seal. There should be the little button on the switch panel, which had "Sportsroof Release" printed on it (although not all of them had the words printed on, and some of the buttons have been replaced over time). The Mini Sunshine was released in October 1977, so Compliance Plates shoukld be from around this period. Chris Zerial's is dated 12/77. The Mini Sunshine also came with the centre-mounted roof aerial, tinted windows and the prismatic "Sunshine" decals on the rear quarters. All other items on the car were either standard on the Mini S or available as options on any Mini sedan of the period. Cheers, Watto. ![]() |
