Got defected for "unstable seats", small steering wheel and the tyres sticking out of the gaurds.
Went to Regency Park (inspection centre) to clear the defect, got a small list :D . And another sticker  .

Seal all holes in the firewall
Fit reversing lights
Replace both front seatbelts-new only
Repair rust around fuel filler
Secure rear speakers
And a couple other very minor numbers

Nothing was said about Emiisions (its a 78 should have air pump and all that other crap, Exhaust, Ride height.
Overall i was FCKN happy and she goes back on Friday to get all the stuff on the above list checked and im back on the road. 8) :D

I think you will find that is a rule in all states (including NSW)
Did minis come from the factory with holes in the firewall?
Why would it be called a firewall if it had holes in it!

It may be my stupidity, but isnt the firewall the piece of metal seperating the inside from the engine bay..? Mine has holes across it for the speedo cable etc. Also one for the choke and then the wires too...

Can you see through the hole where the choke cable/speedo cable/etc. is? There should be a rubbber around the cable to seal the hole.

none of mine have rubbers except where the wiring harness goes through

And what about that dirty big hole in front of all roundnose speedos then? Oops.. mine is even bigger...
All these old Minis had was the bit of soundproofing crap sitting on the firewall.

Man it still amazes me that you guys have to get your cars inspected every time you renew your rego. That's crazy! You should come live in Perth, Land of One-Time Only Registrations!

Obviously, you still have to renew the rego every 6 months/1 year, but you don't have to get it inspected. BRILLIANT, I SAY, BRILLIANT!
